Walk ‘N Wag registration now open

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone Animal Shelter and the Gladstone Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department offers Walk ‘N Wag April 19 at the Atkins-Johnson Farm & Museum, 4109 NE Pleasant Valley Road. The one-mile walk proceeds will be used to help provide a better environment for animals visiting the shelter and to assist in the treatment of ailing animals so that they may become adoptable.

Festivities will begin at 9 a.m. with the one-mile walk beginning at 10 a.m.

Dangerous dogs as defined by the Gladstone Municipal Ordinance are prohibited from participating in this event: pit-bull, Staffordshire terrier, bull terrier or any mix.

All dogs entered must be current for rabies vaccination as of event day, April 19. Puppies too young for rabies shot may not participate. Entrants under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult. Both the participant and the adult must complete and sign an entry form, but will only pay one entry fee.

Dogs must be on a leash and under control at all times. No retractable leashes or leashes over six feet are not allowed. Female dogs in any stage of heat may not enter.

Dogs should be in good health and sociable with other dogs and people. Individuals may walk one dog and the dog must be officially entered and leashed.

Entrants are asked not to run during the walk for safety reasons. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held as scheduled.

Pre-registration starts March 17 and runs through April 11. Late/ day of registration: April 12 to April 19. Event day registration/packet pick-up will take place from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the entrance of The Atkins Johnson Farm & Museum.

Entertainment will begin at 9 a.m.
