NORTH KANSAS CITY – For the third consecutive year, U.S. News & World Report has named North Kansas City Hospital and Meritas Health to its list of Best Hospitals for Maternity Care and bestowed its top rating of “High Performing in Maternity Care (Uncomplicated Pregnancy)” for 2025, according to a hospital press release.
“We are proud to maintain this recognition as one of the best maternity hospitals in the nation,” said Catherine Bonderer, senior director of Maternal Child Health. “Our obstetrics, neonatal and pediatrics teams continually elevate expectations for family-centered care. Their dedication to providing expectant mothers with a safe and care-focused experience is inspiring.”
To create the list, nationwide surveys were sent that evaluated labor and delivery hospitals on eight objective quality measures.
The scorecard rated the health system excellent at minimizing avoidable C-sections as unnecessary C-sections pose long-term health risks to mother and baby. The health system also earned marks for never or rarely scheduling deliveries earlier than recommended, states the press release.
