State conservation department offers virtual programs on plants, butterflies

The Missouri Department of Conservation offers is offering upcoming virtual programs on a variety of subjects including native planting, monarch butterflies and edible plants.

Sept. 17 – home habitat A Sept. 17 virtual program will focus on plants that provide habitat around the home as well as discuss native varieties that provide visual and habitual appeal.

“Native Plants: Be the Host With the Most” will be from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Sept. 18 – edible plants People can learn how to forage in the wild at the Sept. 18 MDC virtual program “Outdoor Survival: Bushcraft Series – Foraging.”

This online program will be from noon to 1 p.m. Register at mdcevent- web.s3licensing. com.

Sept. 19 – Magnificent Monarchs People can learn about the life cycle and migration of monarch butterflies at 2 p.m. Sept. 19. Register at mdc-event-web.s3licensing. com.

This event is open to all ages.

Sept. 20 – native wildflowers

The free virtual program “Native Plants: Wild Color Palettes” is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Sept. 20. At this program, MDC Naturalist Jordanya Raos will suggest native wildflower combinations that can provide an array of color to your flowerbeds throughout the growing season. This program is open to all ages.
