Recycling natural trees topic of Dec. 11 virtual program

Only natural holiday trees and greenery are accepted for recycling or can be used for wildlife habitat.

People who want information on how they can use their Christmas trees for wildlife habitat when the holiday season is finished can register for the Missouri Department of Conservation’s program “Conservation Families: Where Can I Recycle My Christmas Tree.”

This free virtual event is from noon to 12:30 p.m. Dec. 11. Tim Smith, office supervisor of the conservation department’s Shoal Creek facility, will discuss how cedar, fir and pine trees can provide habitat for birds and small mammals during winter.

Though this program is free, registration is required at mdc-event-web.s3licensing.com.

Registrants must provide an email so a program link can be sent. This program will include a chat-based question-and-answer period where participants can interact with the presenters.
