Oakhill Day School inducts 8 into National Junior Honor Society

GLADSTONE — Oakhill Day School celebrated the accomplishments of its newest members of the National Junior Honor Society during a formal induction ceremony.

According to the school, students were recognized for their dedication to the five NJHS pillars: scholarship, service, leadership, citizenship and character, reflecting Oakhill’s commitment to fostering lifelong learning and community impact.

The 2024 NJHS inductees are: Clark Cameron, Brady Colvin, William Edmondson, Graham Jacobs, Kendall James, Donnie Lin, Emma Owen and Luke Rule.

Margaret Sarver, middle school division director, spoke about the enduring relevance of NJHS standards, noting their alignment with Oakhill’s Lifeskills program.

“We strive to educate young men and women, helping them grow, succeed and live out the life skills they’ve learned throughout the years,” she shared.

NJHS Chapter President Alex Tomeldan led the ceremony, acknowledging the inductees’ academic achievements, leadership contributions and dedication to service. Reflecting on the chapter’s history of meaningful initiatives, Tomeldan shared examples of past projects benefiting Don Bosco, Happy Bottoms and A Turning Point.

The induction ceremony featured a candle-lighting presentation by current NJHS members, symbolizing the five NJHS pillars.

In closing, Sarver congratulated the inductees, remarking, “Leave no stone unturned, no bridge burned, no lesson unlearned, no praise unearned. Live life fully engaged.”
