KANSAS CITY NORTH — Oak Park High School opened in 1966 as part of the North Kansas City School District. Not long after that, classmates were sent to Vietnam. There were more than 250 Vietnam veterans from the classes of 1966 through 1975, with 11 killed in action, according to alumni organizers.
To honor their service, alumni are working on a memorial that will eventually be located in the main courtyard at the school. If anyone who went to the school served in Vietnam and want to be included, they can contact Barbara Moyer via email at wolfie8199@aol.com.
