CLAY COUNTY — Northland Clothing Center recently held its annual awards and recognition event honoring volunteers and key community partners from 2024. At this event, NCC celebrated the almost 70 volunteers who gave time and energy to NCC last year, according to release from Marjie Siegfried-Stuber, the center’s executive director.
Awards were also presented to the top three referrers in 2024. These three school social workers referred more than 380 children and family members to NCC to receive clothing: Noha Shalabi, YMCA Northland Head Start (183 referrals); Kim Curtis, Excelsior Springs School District (111 referrals); and Jesse Tyler, NKC Schools (86 referrals). Tyler was also honored for her extra diligence in communication with the clients she sent to NCC.
The award for top referral partner was presented to NKC Schools, with representatives Wendy Marckx and Carey Webber accepting on behalf of NKC School District. Twenty-eight social workers averaged 35 referrals each, with 983 students and families scheduled from the NKC Schools alone.
“Northland Clothing Center exists to serve residents of the Northland who have a demonstrated need for clothing. We cannot help others without the incredible dedication and professionalism of these referral partners,” said Siegfried-Stuber. “They genuinely care about their students and families, and that care is turned into action every time they refer someone to NCC.”
Kellie Houx and the Courier-Tribune were honored with the Community Partner award for the support they provided NCC in 2024. Clay County residents have been able to count on the accuracy, frequency, and timeliness of NCC information reported by the Courier-Tribune.
“Northland Clothing Center exists to serve residents of the Northland who have a demonstrated need for clothing. We cannot help others without the ongoing support and visibility provided by Kellie and everyone at the Courier-Tribune. We are very grateful,” Siegfried-Stuber said.
