GLADSTONE — Join Mayor Tina Spallo and the Gladstone City Council at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3 at Linden Square, 602 NE 70th St., for this year’s Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting. Spallo has selected Feed Northland Kids, Gladstone Neighbors Helping Neighbors, and The Northland Christmas Store as this year’s charitable organizations.
Feed Northland Kids fights food insecurity in Clay and Platte counties. For elementary students, they supply backpacks full of nutritious snacks in partnership with Harvesters Food Bank. In middle and high schools, the organization stock pantries with ready-to-eat food and snacks. And the organization serve families with Community Food Kits, which feature nonperishable staples, fresh produce and ground beef.
Gladstone Neighbors Helping Neighbors has helped needy Gladstone homeowners — especially seniors and veterans —with a variety of neighborhood programs including home repairs, weatherization and maintenance.
The Northland Christmas Store is a nonprofit dedicated to providing aid at Christmastime to Clay County individuals and families in need. The goal of the organization is to see that each person or family has ample food, cleaning supplies and toiletries for the holiday and that each child has gifts to open on Christmas.
