License plate supports pollinators

The Missouri State Beekeepers Association is launching a “Bee Friendly” specialty license plate, a new initiative designed to raise awareness about the vital role of bees and provide crucial support for beekeeping activities throughout Missouri. This initiative benefits beekeeping in Missouri by funding research on bee health and supporting educational programs for beekeepers and the public, states a release from the MSBA.

“Bees are essential for our food supply and the overall health of our environment,” says Michael Brown, past president of MSBA. “This license plate provides a simple yet powerful way for Missourians to contribute to their protection and support the dedicated individuals who work to maintain healthy bee populations.”

After the first 200 applications are processed, the standard license application process will be completed through the Missouri Department of Revenue.

Area beekeeper Clayton Lee, past president and current historian of the Missouri State Beekeepers Association, shared that as of Dec. 26, there were 158 applications submitted.
