Greater KC United Way seeks youth, adult volunteer nominees

To honor the dedication of local volunteers, and in conjunction with National Volunteer Month in April, United Way of Greater Kansas City is now accepting nominations for youth and adults, to be recognized as CommUNITY Volunteers of the Year, according to a press release.

Nominees are sought for making an impact through events, direct service, fundraising, advocacy, serving in leadership capacities and other means of support. Volunteer experiences are not required to be directly connected to the work of United Way or partner organizations to qualify, states the release.

Nominations can be submitted online between now and March 20. A committee will review all submissions and select one youth and one adult to be honored as the 2025 United Way CommUNITY Volunteers of the Year. Winners will be announced during the week of April 20, at which time United Way will also be hosting its annual Spring Seasons of Giving week of volunteerism. <n> Additionally, winners will be recognized during United Way CommUNITY Fest in September, which includes a celebration at CPKC Stadium with the Kansas City Current.

“We’re incredibly grateful for the passion and purpose countless individuals devote to our community through volunteerism,” said Nora Freyman, United Way chief marketing officer. “The work we, and our partners do each day, would simply not be possible without their dedicated service to creating a Kansas City where all have the opportunity to thrive.”
