GLADSTONE — The Gladstone Police Department is currently seeking volunteers for the current effort called “Volunteers in Police Service.”
According to the department, volunteer duties could include serving as a police department ambassador, conducting vacation residence checks, assisting with records and other clerical duties, assisting the department with special events, assisting with parking enforcement, observing surroundings on trails and parks, helping place speed trailers throughout the city and leading police station tours.
Capt. Bryan Boydston said there is no age limit for volunteers.
“We are looking for citizens who have an interest in emergency management and the ability to participate in volunteer services for the city of Gladstone,” he explained. “Volunteers are not sworn personnel, however, they are selected based on their interest in and concern for the needs of law enforcement. Volunteers are not law enforcement officers and are utilized for community relations and other liaison, emergencies, disasters and other support activities. The Gladstone Fire Department can also use them in their Gladstone Emergency Management volunteer group as well.”
