KANSAS CITY — Northland fire departments and districts, including Gladstone, honored the firefighters’ lives who were lost in the World Trade Center terrorist attacks of 2001 by taking part in the annual Sept. 11 Stair Climb Sunday, Sept. 8, at Town Pavilion, 1111 Main St., Kansas City.
Capt. Basil Brown, Aaron Roberts, Jackson Nelson, Capt. Jason Lawson and Kiersten Seago from Gladstone Fire Department took on the challenge to climb 110 floors in their bunker gear carrying a variety of hoses and air tanks.
According to organizers, the event represents the extreme physical challenge and intense reflection to honor New York’s bravest who sacrificed their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. The event also supports families who have suffered a line-of-duty death in the Kansas City metro area.
