GLADSTONE — The Gladstone City Council honored a longtime volunteer and then conducted the business of the city during the council meeting Feb. 10.
A proclamation was issued recognizing Everett Jones for 14 years of outstanding volunteer services to the city’s Emergency Management Agency.
The council also approved the final plat of of an existing parcel in a small subdivision located at 7204 and 7208 N. Oak Trafficway and directing appropriate officials to affix their signatures to said plat for recording.
The city will also participate in the Missouri Highway Safety Program and receive grant funds for increased enforcement of traffic laws.
The meeting concluded with council authorizing a contract with Lan-Tel Communications Services for the FY23 Curb, Gutter and Sidewalk Program – Phase 2.
Through the consent agenda, the council also approved several special event permit for community activities coming this spring. They are:
• Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt at Happy Rock Park East Sports Complex from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 11;
• Walk ‘N Wag at Atkins-Johnson Farm and Museum from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 19;
• A Civil War Muster at Atkins-Johnson Farm and Museum from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 26;
• Touch A Truck at Happy Rock Park West from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 3;
• Afternoon Tea at Atkins-Johnson Farm and Museum from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 10; and
• A movie night at Atkins-Johnson Farm and Museum from 8 to 10 p.m. Thursday, May 20.
The council also approved the city property surplus that will be available via online auction, sealed bid or otherwise disposed of as approved by the city manager.
The final two actions included the approval of a commercial lease agreement between the Gladstone and Curana Health Management to operate an office for a Physicians’ Medical Director Group at 7001 N. Cherry St. and the acceptance of work for a maintenance project from Vance Brothers.
