Gladstone council approves aid for firefighters

GLADSTONE — The Sept. 9 Gladstone City Council meeting began with council approving a special event permit addendum for a street closure on the north side of Northeast 70th Street, adjacent to Linden Square,  for the Taylor Made Concert Sept. 13.

An ordinance was also passed authorizing the execution of required documents for Gladstone to participate in the Missouri Firefighters Critical Illness Trust Pool, a specialized program that provides support to Missouri firefighters and other first responders facing serious health risks due to their line of work.

Additionally, council passed a resolution authorizing an agreement with Extra Duty Solutions for the administration of law enforcement off-duty employment when businesses request additional security.

A resolution authorizing Amendment No. 1 to the professional engineering services agreement with McClure Engineering Company for the detailed design of a 24-inch transmission main was passed, as well.

The meeting concluded with council passing a resolution authorizing Change Order No. 3 to the contract with Fleshman Construction for the Northeast 76th Terrace drainage and parking improvements.
