GLADSTONE — The Gladstone City Council approved the real and personal property tax rates on Sept. 23.
The personal property tax rate is unchanged from last year at 0.9290 per $100 of assessed valuation. The council held a public hearing prior to approving an ordinance fixing the annual rate of levy for the 2024 real estate and personal property taxes within the corporate limits of Gladstone. Residential is 0.7000; agriculture, 0.5810; and 0.7090, commercial.
Two proclamations were made at the council meeting as well.
The council declared October 2024 to be National Code Compliance Month to recognize the hard work and dedication of code enforcement officers.
The week of Sept. 28 to Oct. 4 was also declared Missouri Good Neighbor Week, which is a week that encourages citizens of Missouri to establish connections with their neighbors.
The council also passed an ordinance amending Schedule VIII of the Model Traffic Code to establish stop sign locations at the northeast and southeast corners of the intersection of North Holmes Street and Northeast 66th Terrace.
Through the consent agenda, the council approved the following:
• A resolution authorizing the execution of a one-year contract with Frazier Oil Company for the bulk purchase of unleaded and diesel fuel on an as-needed basis;
• Considered a financial report for 12 months ending June 30, 2024; and
• Considered a financial report for two months ending Aug. 31, 2024.
