GLADSTONE – Mayor Tina Spallo and fellow city council members will commemorate Arbor Day at 10 a.m. Friday, April 4 at Hobby Hill Park West located at 7601 N. Broadway.
Join Spallo and the students from Linden West Elementary School as the community celebrates Arbor Day and Gladstone’s recognition as a Tree City USA by planting a tree at Hobby Hill Park West.
Missouri’s official observance of Arbor Day began in 1887 when the legislature set aside a day in early April to encourage residents to appreciate and plant trees. This tree-planting celebration began in Nebraska in 1872 and was developed by Julius Sterling Morton.
