CLAY COUNTY — Genealogy KC, an event for family history buffs and beginners, will hold its 10th annual conference Aug. 23 in Kansas City North.

The keynote speaker, Benjamin Hoff, a composer and arranger for film and television, will kickoff the event which runs from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Aug. 23 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 6751 N.E. 70th St, Kansas City.

This year’s theme is “The Past Within Us,” and will include sessions presented by genealogy and family history experts. Sessions will cover a variety of topics from preserving documents, photographs and artifacts to genealogy research and planning successful research road trips.

“In every family, there is one who cherishes photos, recipes, music, videos, art, stories, books, or other avenues. Everyone has a place in the world of family history,” said Ashley Arnett, co-chair for this year’s conference. “All talents and interests can contribute, and all are wanted. Genealogy KC is a great place to start and find out what you can do.”

Expert genealogists will be on hand to answer questions, help participants research their roots online and discover the stories of their ancestors.
