The Missouri State Highway Patrol announced its annual boost in enforcement efforts for the days surrounding the Thanksgiving holiday, one of the year’s busiest travel times.
The official counting period begins at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, the day before Thanksgiving, and ends at midnight on Dec. 1. During the same counting period in 2023, nine people were killed and 4,823 injured in 1,342 traffic crashes on Missouri roadways.
Data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration shows roughly one-third of deadly crashes involved alcohol or some other type of impaired driving.
As a result, highway patrol troopers will be out in full force to help roadways safe and will arrest those suspected of driving under the influence.
