In recognition and celebration of Drinking Water Week, May 4 through 10, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and the American Water Works Association — Missouri Section are holding a poster contest for fifth-grade students in Missouri. Entries must be postmarked by March 8.
This year’s poster theme is “Protect the Source.” Posters should show ways people can protect drinking water. Entries should be no larger than 11 x 17 inches and artists may use any color or media like crayons, markers, pencils, etc., to create their posters. Entries will be judged on three criteria: originality, execution and how well the poster relates to public water supplies.
Prizes include $300 for first place, $200 for second place and $100 for third place. Prize money is provided by the American Water Works Association. Winning entries will be featured on the department’s social media platforms and website. Posters will not be returned after the contest.
