GLADSTONE — Best of the Northland-winning cover band One Night Stand will be playing starting at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, at Gladstone’s Linden Square, 620 NE 70th St.

The local band is known for performing hits from the 1960s through today. The band aims to “take audiences back to their rock and roll roots,” states the band’s website.

Musical selections include a variety from the Doobie Brothers, Chicago, Journey, Stevie Wonder, Huey Lewis and the News, Elton John, Robert Palmer, Bon Jovi, Hall & Oates, Joe Cocker, Billy Squire and REO Speedwagon.

NORTH KANSAS CITY — Melissa and Company will bring a mix of classic country and gospel music to the Friday in the Park music series this week in North Kansas City.

The show runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Household hazardous waste disposal event

Saturday in Gladstone

GLADSTONE — The city’s household hazardous waste collection event starts at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, in Happy Rock Park West, located at NE 76th and North Antioch Road.

The Gladstone event will end after 200 vehicles have been served.

Residents can drop off items such as paint, oil, gasoline, antifreeze, pesticides, batteries, cleaning products, automotive fluids, bug sprays and other chemical products. Products for residential use labeled as flammable, toxic, corrosive or reactive are considered household hazardous wastes.

Proof of residency is required. Freon will not be accepted.
