Charity receives $2,500 from Spectrum Employee Community Grant Program

KANSAS CITY NORTH — Hillside Opening Possibilities for Everyone received $2,500 from Spectrum’s Employee Community Grants to aid the charitable group’s work in providing a food pantry to those in need.

Hillside Opening Possibilities for Everyone offers a food pantry several times throughout the week to provide food and non-food items to those need.

Earlier this year, Charter Communications, Inc., which operates the Spectrum brand of products and services, announced its commitment to award $2.5 million over the next five years to local nonprofits, according to a press release.

“Spectrum Employee Community Grants support local nonprofits that hold a meaningful connection to the Spectrum employees who nominate them and to the communities they serve,” said Rahman Khan, group vice president of Community Impact at Charter. “Looking forward to the next five years, we’re increasing our investment in the program in support of our employees’ dedication to volunteer work and vital community organizations that enhance the lives of local residents.”

HOPE.wrx assumed the responsibility of a food pantry and a family pack program originally established by Hillside Christian Church, 900 NE Vivion Road, in Kansas City. The pantry is operated by an all-volunteer staff and supports residents of Clay and Platte counties. HOPE.wrx also provides personal hygiene items such as laundry and bath soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste, toilet tissue and feminine hygiene products to those served.
