KANSAS CITY — Northland fire departments and districts, including Gladstone, honored the firefighters’ lives who were lost in the World Trade Center terrorist attacks of 2001 by taking part in the annual Sept. 11 Stair Climb Sunday, Sept. 8, at Town Pavilion, 1111 Main St., Kansas City.
GLADSTONE — The Northland Shepherd’s Center seeks volunteers to help with several programs within the nonprofit. Each weekday, Northland Shepherd’s Center volunteers donate time and talents to fulfill a variety of needs in an array of programs such as transportation drivers, handy helpers, Phone Pals, Meals on Wheels, Plate of Hope Food Pantry, fundraiser support and administrative support.

NORTH KANSAS CITY — The group Marimba Sol de Chiapas will bring music from south of the border to the Friday in the Park series in North Kansas City this week. The group is “committed to the authentic performance practice and spirit of the marimba heard throughout Mesoamerica,” according to the group’s website.
GLADSTONE — The next free show in the Sounds on the Square concert series is Hard@ Play. The band plays at 7 p.m.

CLAY COUNTY — Mid-Continent Public Library System’s Food for Fines program has returned for another year, starting Monday, Sept. 9 and running through Sunday, Sept. 16. The program allows library customers the opportunity to pay off fines and fees with donations of nonperishable food items, which benefit local charities.
