NORTH KANSAS CITY — The New Red Onion Jazz Babies will bring Dixieland music to Friday in the Park from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

As summer draws closer to an end, many people begin to experience the dreaded itchy eyes and runny nose that comes along with blooming ragweed, reports the state conservation department. “While this irritating plant earns every bit of its reputation for being the leading cause of late-season hay fever, another plant often takes the blame for these sneezy symptoms, states a release from the Missouri Department of Conservation.

People can learn about crows and blue jays at the Missouri Department of Conservation virtual program “Corvids: Crows and Jays.” This free online program will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday, Aug.

Pest control is an important part of establishing an attractive garden. Insects, diseases and weeds are formidable foes, but the damage they inflict often pales compared to the destruction perpetrated by some of four-legged “friends,” said University of Missouri Extension horticulturist David Trinklein, in an extension press release.

GLADSTONE — The second Gladstone Theatre in the Park musical takes the stage Friday through Sunday, Aug. 2 through 4, at the Gladstone Amphitheater in Oak Grove Park, located at the intersection of North Troost Avenue and North 76th Street. The production starts at 8:30 p.m. nightly.

NORTH KANSAS CITY — The TurpinTyme Ragsters will bring Ragtime music to Friday in the Park starting at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, at North Kansas City’s Festival Pavilion in Macken Park, 1000 Clark Ferguson Drive.
