GLADSTONE — The annual Atkins-Johnson Sunflower 5K Run/ Walk benefiting the Friends of the Atkins-Johnson Farm and Museum and the North Kansas City Schools Education Foundation will begin at 8 a.m. Aug. 24 at the farm, 4109 NE Pleasant Valley Road, Gladstone.
Runners will take a route along the Atkins-Johnson Farm property, neighboring White Chapel Cemetery and continuing through the Big Shoal Farm’s sunflower field. Walkers take a shorter route on the walking path surrounding the property.
Awards will be presented to the top male finisher, the top female finisher and the top three males and top three females in each of the following age groups: 12 and under, 13 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69 and 70 and older.
