After 18 years as chief executive officer, Karen Dolt has retired from the helm of Northland Health Care Access. Dolt officially retired at the end of 2024 after holding the role since 2006.
Under her leadership, the organization flourished, reads a statement from the board of directors.
“What was once a $300,000 organization, serving less than 1,000 patient visits yearly and only one program, is now a trusted million-dollar entity, serving approximately 4,500 patient visits yearly through eight community health care partnerships and programs developed under Karen’s leadership,” reads the statement.
Programs provided by the organization are SeniorCare, which aids those 60 and older in Clay and Platte counties; NorthlandCare, a volunteer network of health care providers who donate care to the uninsured; NorthlandCare Plus, which helps patients with care coordination and financial support so patients can use insurance benefits; Healthy Families, providing care coordination and supplies to moms and their families; Behavior Health Services, providing access to behavioral health service access with Beacon Health; Samuel L. Rodgers, two health care clinics; Swope Health Services, supporting a primary care clinic for the underinsured; and the Health Information Line, where people can get support from a care coordinator.
“This enormous growth is a testament to Karen’s vision, dedication and trusted relationships she has built and nourished during her tenure as CEO of NHCA, which has been a true blessing to the Northland. Karen’s leadership, marked by her strong vision and relationship-building, has exemplified her personal qualities,” reads the board’s statement. “She has strategically positioned NHCA to be a trusted leader by creating a care network with Northland healthcare organizations, ensuring healthcare access for all residents in Clay and Platte counties. Her firm belief that healthcare is a right, not a privilege, has been the cornerstone of her leadership.”
Dolt was also one of the founders of The Northland Health Alliance, a collaboration of local health organizations united in the mission to enhance the well-being and quality of life for Clay and Platte County residents.
With Dolt’s retirement, the organization has filled the position at this time with an interim CEO.
