North Kansas City Hospital offers heart health workshops, screenings

During February, nationally recognized as American Heart Month, the American Heart Association and North Kansas City Hospital, will be offering a variety of health screenings and talks at the hospital and in the community. <n> First up is a Lunch & Learn event titled “Matters of the Heart: Understanding Cardiovascular Health and Wellness” at noon Tuesday, Feb. 4, at the hospital, located at 2800 Clay Edwards Drive.

Heart health screenings will be from 8 to 11:45 a.m. Feb. 11 at the North Kansas City Hospital campus; and from 8 to 10 a.m. Feb. 13 at Gladstone Community Center, 6901 N. Holmes St. These free screenings will include fasting cholesterol, blood sugar and blood pressure. <n> There will be a chronic disease self-management course from 1 to 2 p.m. Feb. 20. The event is virtual. Another virtual class examines women and heart disease from noon to 1 p.m. Feb. 26.
