GLADSTONE — The Gladstone City Council has approved several items pertaining to citywide improvements including gutters and sidewalks.
The improvements include change orders to the contract with Lan-Tel Communications Services for the curb, gutter and sidewalk program as well as a change order to the contract with Metro Asphalt for the mill and overlay program.
The council also approved at its most recent meeting a contract with C.P. Excavating, LLC, for storm drainage work at Northeast 68th Terrace and North Bellefontaine, pending Missouri Department of Natural Resources Concurrence.
Other business included approving the annual Meadowbrook Community Improvement District budget for July 1 to June 30, 2025 and appointing board members Jon Carpenter, Beto Lopez, Chris Gahagen, Dave Stanley and James Stuart II for the CID.
Easements from property owners in conjunction with the Linden Connector Trail was also passed by the council. Additionally, the council passed a resolution authorizing expenditure to Security Bank of Kansas City to extinguish debt associated with improvements to the Atkins-Johnson Farm and Museum. Through the consent agenda, the council approved the following:
• A special event permit for the Sunflower 5K Run/Walk from 6 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Atkins-Johnson Farm and Museum, 4109 NE Pleasant Valley Road;
• A special event permit for the King of Kings Lutheran Church Congregation Picnic from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, in Happy Rock Park West; · A resolution authorizing revisions to the city’s purchasing policy;
• A resolution authorizing purchase of picnic tables and trash cans for the Oak Grove Park shelters; and
• A resolution to execute a contract with Goddard and Son Roofing, Inc. for the replacement of the Community Center’s lower roof.
