17th Quilt-Rs & Craft-Rs Market Saturday

CLAY COUNTY — The 17th annual Quilt-Rs & Craft-Rs Market returns to Hillside Christian Church, 900 NE Vivion Road, in Kansas City. This year the crafting garage sale, which benefits Hillside ministries, will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23.

In the church gym, shoppers will find craft supplies, quilts, notions, yarn, patterns, tabletop machines and tools for all types of hobbies. In addition to supplies, finished craft items such as quilts, seasonal decorations, purses and tote bags, jewelry, and pottery will be sold.

Scout Troop 271 will once again sell sub sandwiches, chips, bottled water, and fruit inside the gym. Tables will be set up for shoppers to enjoy lunch on-site. Shoppers can also take advantage of the best bargains of all from our FreeCycle tables. Crafting supplies, kits, magazines, paper — you name it, you can help yourself to it all day long.

“Proceeds from the Q/C Market go to support church ministries, such as the long-running Hillside Quilters who meet every Thursday,” said Lucy Perry, market coordinator. “This summer this amazing group finished 91 handcrafted quilts for donation to University Health Lakewood Medical Center. They welcome anyone who likes to quilt to join their team and be a part of this mission to bring comfort to those in need.”

The quilters are currently accepting donations of unfinished craft projects, extra supplies, and unneeded notions and tools. Bins are set up in the church foyers for donations. Local pick-ups can be arranged.
