Paramedic/Firefighter Travis S. Wessel was promoted to the rank of fire captain within the Public Safety Department.

Shawn Rulon is now a battalion chief with the Gladstone Department of Public Safety’s Fire/EMS Division.

Fire Captain Shawn Rulon was promoted to the rank of battalion chief in the Public Safety Department Fire/EMS Division on Wednesday, Sept. 25 after competing with other candidates in a rigorous testing process.

Rulon assumed the position of shift commander. He has been with the Public Safety Department for almost 14 years, serving as an EMT/firefighter, paramedic/firefighter and was promoted to fire captain in the Fire/EMS Division in 2015.

He is a licensed paramedic with significant EMS experience, holds certification from the Missouri Department of Public Safety as Firefighter I & II, and is the recipient of the EMT/Firefighter Award in 2015 from the Bennett & Dennis Herrick Memorial American Legion Post 626 and the Department of Missouri American Legion.

Paramedic/Firefighter Travis S. Wessel was promoted to the rank of fire captain within the Public Safety Department on Wednesday, Oct. 9. Wessel was selected for promotion after competing with other candidates in a rigorous testing process.

He is a licensed paramedic, holds certification from the Missouri Department of Public Safety as a Firefighter I & II, and has more than 13 years of service with the Public Safety Department as a paramedic/firefighter. Wessel assumed a leadership role on an engine company in the Fire/EMS Division of the department.
