Nick Scott, Jacob Black and Cameron Whitfield will perform at The Groundhog Day Theater, 6906 N. Oak Trafficway. Admission is $10. The show is designed for those 18 and older. The night also includes an open-mic opportunity. Sign-up is at 9:30 p.m. with the show starting at 10 p.m. The event is hosted by Hilary Hope.

Gorilla Dance Club will be performing at 7 p.m. at Linden Square, 602 N. 70th St, as part of Sounds on the Square. The group is known for an eclectic mix of music from Motown hits, R&B, Hip Hop, Pop, Top 40, Country, Reggae and more. The Sounds on the Square shows are family friendly. Patrons are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair for seating.

Saturday, Sept. 14

Gladstone Farmers Market will offer fresh produce, crafts, baked goods and other items from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. along the access street behind City Hall, located on the north side of Northeast 70th Street, next to the Linden Square bandstand and park.

An Overeaters Anonymous support group will meet from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at North Kansas City Hospital, 2790 Clay Edwards Drive. For more information about this free event, call 691-3069.

This year’s Northaven 2 neighborhood association’s annual picnic is 5 to 7 p.m. in the backyard at 6915 N. Woodland Ave. The association will provide ribs, pepper steak, Italian beef, brats, hot dogs, toppings and bottled water. Attendees should bring a hot or cold dish or a dessert to share.

Fiesta on the Square will be 6 to 9:30 p.m. in Linden Square. The evening will feature food from Mi Ranchito and dancing and music by KC Latin and Jazz Allstars.

At 2 p.m., the Young Comedians at The Groundhog Day Theater will perform scripted and improvised material. At 7 p.m., Celeste Torrence invites three guests from among her comedy favorites to perform three sets in her standup showcase. Admission is $10. The show is for those 18 and older.

Monday, Sept. 16

At 10 a.m., senior adults can take a strength-training program called Life Improving Fitness Training at the Northland Shepherd’s Center, 5601 NE Antioch Road. Call 452-4536.

The craft group Chatty Crafters meets at 10 a.m. at the Antioch library branch of the Mid-Continent Public Library, 6060 N. Chestnut Ave. At 6:30 p.m., the Wild Adventure offers kids a chance to discover why elephants have trunks and rabbits have short tails. At 6:30 p.m., visitors can learn the basics of accounting for food trucks. At 6:30 p.m., there are English as Second Language classes for adults who need to improve their English skills.
