Harrison Garcia, Edward Bell and Patrick Simpson will be performing at 8 p.m. at The Groundhog Day Theater, 6906 N. Oak Trafficway. Admission is $10 and the show is designed for those 18 and older. A chance for stand-up comics to stage time or try out new material will also occur. Sign-up is at 9:30 p.m. with the show starting at 10 p.m. The event is hosted by Hilary Hope.

Saturday, Oct. 12

The Gladstone Farmers Market will offer fresh produce, crafts, baked goods and other items from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. along the access street behind City Hall, located on the north side of Northeast 70th Street, next to the Linden Square bandstand and park.

At 10 a.m., the dietitian at the Gladstone Hy-Vee, 7117 N. Prospect Ave., will take people on a tour to look at foods that may be good for those with diabetes, heart disease or general health issues.

ABC book club meets at Avondale United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. at 3101 NE Winn Road in Kansas City. Visit for information on future book selections.

The Big Shoal Cemetery Tour will be 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Big Shoal Cemetery, 4125 NE 64th St. The event includes a chance to explore the cemetery and hear the stories of those who are buried there including Clay County’s earliest settlers and veterans. There will be a guided tour and refreshments. Tickets are $10. Attendees should wear comfortable shoes and bring a jacket. In the event of heavy rain, the tour will be canceled.

River and Prairie Storyweavers meet from 2 to 4 p.m. at Woodneath Library Center, 8900 NE Flintlock Road in Kansas City, to share stories and storytelling techniques.
