At 10 a.m., Sammie Scott, the dietitian at the Gladstone Hy-Vee, 7117 N. Prospect Ave., will take participants on a tour to look at foods that may aid in preventing heart disease.

At 10 a.m., the Chouteau Fountain Founders Committee will be holding its groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Francois Chouteau & Native American Heritage Fountain project. The kick-off will take place at the fountain site on the west side of Chouteau Trafficway at 3900 NE Chouteau Trafficway. The first construction phase of the project is to build 30 linear feet of the 8-foot-tall fountain bluff. After completion, three bronze sculptures produced by artist and sculptor Kwan Wu will be perched on top of the rock bluff. The sculpture of Francois Chouteau will stand next to the Osage man and woman figure.

Rice Hall and Jerad Langley will be performing at 8 p.m. at The Groundhog Day Theater, 6906 N. Oak Trafficway. Admission is $10 and designed for those 18 and older. A chance to get stage time, try out new material or enjoy laughs in a friendly, supportive atmosphere will be offered during an open-mic night. Sign up is at 9:30 p.m. with the show starting at 10 p.m. The event is hosted by Hilary Hope and Noble Freeman.

Saturday, Nov. 16

At 2 p.m., the Young Comedians’ November show is dedicated to the following slow competitive events: The Paint-Drying Semifinals, The Human Hibernation Championship and The Sloth Olympics. The show at The Groundhog Day Theater is for all ages. Admission is $5 per person.
