Gladstone offers hip-hop. theater classes

The Gladstone Community Center, 6901 N. Homes St., is offering hip-hop and theater classes for young performers this fall.

Hip-hop is a high-energy dance class for boys and girls ages 7 to 15. Students will learn new moves and and have the ability to show their skills to their peers. The hour-long class is being held Mondays beginning at 5 p.m. Sept. 16.

There are two theater class options being offered for interested actors ages 7 to 18. On Mondays through Dec. 2, class is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Participants will learn music and choreography from “Beauty and the Beast, the Musical.” The class is titled “Curtain Call: Be Our Guest.”

At 5 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. 12 to Nov. 14, the Acting I program is designed for beginner actors. During this hour-long class, students will learn the basics of acting, stage direction and character development. All participants will have the opportunity to perform in the showcase that will be held on Friday, Dec. 6, at the community center.
