Big Shoal Country Fair Saturday

The Friends of the Atkins-Johnson Farm & Museum presents the annual Big Shoal Country Fair at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at the historic farm, 4901 NE Pleasant Valley Road in Gladstone. The fair runs until 4 p.m.

This year’s lineup includes the Big Red Barn Bounce House, Hi-Striker and Hi-Striker Jr., the Missouri Town Dancers, Melissa & Company, Stable T Petting Zoo, free popcorn, the Gladstone Farmers Market and vendors and crafters.

For the kids, are the Midwest Dairy Association’s milking cow as well as games and prizes.

Admission is free, but there are costs associated with some activities.

Parking will be available at Happy Rock Park, 7600 NE Antioch Road. A bus will provide shuttle service to and from the fair from the park.

The Atkins-Johnson Farm traces its origins to 1824 and the museum features an inside look at the original log cabin.

Admission to the museum is free.

Proceeds from the fair will support the farm’s ongoing educational offerings and preservation.
