As the outdoor pool season winds down, the Gladstone Parks Department wants the community to celebrate with a trip to the pool with the family dog.
For several years, the Gladstone Community Pool and the city’s recreation staff have offered this day. This year, Dunkin’ Dogs is Saturday, Aug. 24. The pool is located at 7011 N. Holmes St.
Small dogs, those under 30 pounds in weight, are invited to take a dip from 10 to 11:30 a.m. while dogs that weigh more than 30 pounds can take a swim from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
There’s a two-dog minimum per person and all dogs must be supervised by an adult 18 years of age or older. Dogs should be in good health and sociable with other dogs and people. Aggressive dogs will be asked to leave, according to a city press release.
Owners must present a current rabies certificate for each dog. No humans will be allowed in the pool water. Dogs must be on a leash outside of the designated play area. Owners must also clean up after pets. Each session will be limited to 100 dogs. Children under the age of 10 must be supervised by an adult 18 years of age or older.
Cost is $7 for each preregistered dog. Cost the day of the event is $10.
