Bill Cross 5K Walk/Run Oct. 6

The annual Bill Cross 5K Walk/Run for BackSnacks will be Sunday, Oct. 6, at Zona Rosa, located off North Dixson Avenue in Kansas City. The run is in memory of Bill Cross, former mayor of Gladstone and a teacher, coach, administrator, mentor and role model for more than 35,000 area students. All funds raised from this event will support Feed Northland Kids.

The run starts at 8 a.m. Chris Evans, executive director of Feed Northland Kids, said the group also seeks donations of granola bars.

“Hungry children aren't just statistics or sad stories on TV commercials. They are real and all too many of them are right here in the Northland. At Feed Northland Kids, it is our mission to change all of that. That's why, in partnership with Harvesters, we work hard to provide children with backpacks full of food that keeps them going and growing strong through what otherwise might be very hungry weekends. But we can't complete our mission alone, we need your help,” Evans said.
