Atkins-Johnson Farm opens June 3

The 2020 spring exhibition focuses on bees and the many benefits they provide at the Atkins-Johnson Farm and Museum.

Atkins-Johnson Farm and Museum, 4109 NE Pleasant Valley Road, Gladstone, will officially open for the 2020 season on Wednesday, June 3. The museum will resume normal hours of operation from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesdays through Saturdays.

Museum Director Erica Layton said the museums is also offering the special exhibition “Little Bee, Big Deal: Honey Bees and Their Amazing World” on display at the museum.

Layton said museum rules will not require visitors to have masks, but volunteers and staff will. The museum will be limited to 10 people at a time.

“One positive thing that has not changed is that our grounds, walking trail, garden and cemetery with self-guided tour brochure are all still open seven days a week,” she said.

As June begins, Layton said there will also be an eight-week outdoor yoga class that starts June 20. Registration for yoga will begin June 1.

“We are excited to open in June and hope the museum will offer that peaceful and fun sense of normal to visitor,” she said.
